The Tate Gallery

By Alexandra Schene

We went to the Tate Gallery on Monday with Mr Gehrmann and Mrs Vollmer. There you had several ways of spending you time. At the beginning you could, for example, think about the meaning of a single rope lying on a floor titled «rope”. You could exchange opinions about a big dirty block of fat made by Joseph Beuys.

The most appreciated works were perhaps the ones consisting of dark red painted linen in a room without any lights. One pupil of our group asked the security about the price and he replied that they were simply unaffordable. But if you didn’t quit your visit because of discouragement at this point you were able to see some beautiful pictures made by Willy Turner. Also some information about his life and works were given in a special exhibition.

Further you could see the famous «Campbell’s Soup Can” and «Marilyn” by Andy Warhol. Before going into the shop you could have a last glance at the brilliant »wordspaces« by Fiona Banner.

And all this art for free!!
