Founded in 1947, Fenghua High School grew out of Xingci Middle School, which was set up by the famous Chinese contemporary Buddhist monk Xingci, and renamed Cuiwen Middle School. In 1983, Fenghua High School and Cuiwen Middle School merged into one. The new school re-sited from Lane 1700 Gong He Xin Road to No.1000 Da Ning Road in 2004. With its teaching aim: »Learn to conduct yourself. Learn to seek knowledge. Let your life radiate vigor«, our school implements the policy of education for the future, and holds firmly to the concept, that is, high qualified teaching staff, high level management, modern teaching facilities and better education results. Up till now, our school has been honored: gold medal for Health Promotion School by World Health Organization (WHO), a member of the project: Environment, Population and Development (EPD) organized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). We are the Advanced Unit of National Sports Hygiene. We are also the Shanghai Garden Unit, Behavioral Model School and Primary & Middle School’s Educational Reform Base. We are one of the first Shanghai Bilingual Experimental Schools.

Shanghai Huimin Middle School, built in the downtown area in 1945, is the only boarding ethnic school for students mainly from the national minorities. It has successfully passed the final evaluation to be a Shanghai Experimental Model Middle School months before. Now, here are over 1300 students from different nationalities being educated on campus.
